Message:I am a beginner in the music software environment, and have problem to understand how to get the sound I select out of my computer. I am using Sonar 2.2 demo with a PC runing XP and a Sound Blaster Live 5.1. Lets say I select Accoustic Grand Piano (patch 1, bank none, channel none, out SB Live! SW Synth C400]) then I change channel to Roland XV-88 Patch, bank to 11200-Roland XV-88 PR-A, patch goes to PR-A:001 128 VoicePiano (patch 1 of this bank) the sound coming out of my speakers remain the same, absolutely unchanged, even if I chose another channel like a Roalnd XP-80 Drums, or a Alesis Nanobass, as long as I keep the patch number 1, I get the same sound. The only change I can get is if I put channel to 10:... in which case I get drums instead of my piano.
This seems to be true for any patch. I can modify channel and bank, the sound remains unchanged.
Can someone tell me what I should do to have the "real" sound coming out, instrument change should produce sound change, bank change should produce sound change... as far as I understand from the way it behaves on the keyboards (XP-80 & SP-500 that we have at least do!)
Thanks in advance for any help and advice you can give. Alain
