When a track goes all "jangly" I have found it has to do with the clock settings.

Click TOOLS
Click PROJECT OPTIONS
Click CLOCK
Look under "SOURCE"
Mark off the "AUDIO" button

If it is on MIDI then any audio you record will go jangly.
You can have it on MIDI when you are recording midi, especialy from a keyboard that has a timing/drum track. But switch it to AUDIO whenever you record audio.

I hope that helps, maybe that isn't the problem, but that is all I know.
