Message:I bought HomeStudio to record from a MIDI keyboard (via a Midiman USB connection) and burn the captured music to CDs. I am losing a borrowed Audigy card so need to buy a new one. Does the card matter? I am assuming that the sound card is bypassed when I record from the MIDI source and I know the software uses the card when playing back through the speakers. Am I correct in assuming that the sound card is not a factor when saving the music to mp3 or to a cd? So, besides playback, does the software use the sound card?
I can get an Audigy for ~$50 and an Audigy2 for ~$72. I'm looking for something in the same price range.
thanks
