when I manually write in notation in the staff view it looks like big square blocks and not proper notation.I also get a message that says macro 1037 .Can anyone help?

I had the same problem with home studio 9.Try right clicking the icon and select run as administrator.Hopefully that will work.I also have vista home as my O.S.
