I am using a Studio Projects VTB-1.
Its got a 12ax7 that can be mixed 100% in or out of the signal path
( or whateverpercentage you want ! )
Low Cost and Sounds Great.
Amazing sound when I use for Bass.
Great sound for mics and guitars.
.... and at $129 USD pretty hard to beat !!!

One possiblity is to reformat the hard drive and try again from scratch.

Sorry I forgot to say I run XP Pro as my OS.

I run Sonar 3.1.1 on a P4 2.4 gig / 512 meg system.
I would like to get a bit more out of sonar. Can you guys give me some tweaks to apply and/or processes that I can live without.
I am decent musician/composer but not very educated on OS's

The same thing happens using the MME drivers but I get the extra thrill of long latency too ... No fun !!!
