I have had that problem with windows 98se. Once you download directx 9 it becomes part of your operating system. Sonar's 8.1 can't overwrite it. I do have another computer with XP on it and didn't have a problem loading Sonar on it. What I did was reformat my hard disk and reinstalled my operating s...
Do you have CD burners on both computers? If you do I would just copy your files on a dedicated CD that is for that purpose and transfer data that way. I guess you really only need one burner. That would be on the computer that you are recording on unless you want to edit your work and take it down ...

Cakewalk comes with GM midi as a default. If you don't set the insrument defs for each patch you want to record you could easily be recording just GM sounds even if you are trying to play something else. The XP 80 has GM as part of its patch group but with the proper inst. defs. you should be able t...

Yeah, I bet! I guess no system is without its problems. It seems to me just when I think that I am done and have figured everything out something new crops up. It never fails. You know Sonar 3 is out and it is supposed to be completely different. I can't wait. I would like to think that some of thes...

That is interesting. I am able to record all of my patches and rhythm patches ( if you want to call them that ) using Midi and then if I want to change to audio I can do so. But the performances I can only go straight audio because of the problem I have mentioned. I am going to try to play around wi...

Thanks, I will try all those things mentioned. It seems like the problem only occurs during straight audio recording. I could be recording to hot. I am not 100% sure but I think it is static from equipment. However, It doesn't do consistantly just here and there. If I record just midi and then conve...

Cakewalk Instrument Definitions
I own a roland XP80 and I am having problems with one set of instrument definition. The performance set does not match the patches on my keyboard. If you select the number of the performance to match knowing that the name doesn't match up you get a completely different sound. The patches and rhythms...

cracks and pops in the track
Hi All! I don't know what the problem is, but when I record straight audio using sonar 2.0xl I am getting an infrequent crack and pop in the track that I just recorded. It sounds like static. I am using an M audio 2496 audiocard. I have played with the latency setting with in Sonar and the Maudio co...
