I got it to work. I knew if I fiddled around with it enough I might. I had three devices under MIDI ports. I had them all highlighted. So I tried just highlighting the Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth alone, and that did the trick. Thanks anyway for all your help!

I have a pretty early version of Cakewalk. Lately I have had no sound whatsoever when trying to play back music. Thanks, but just to let you know, it isn't Sonar. It is Cakewalk Score Writer for Windows version 1.0, and there is no audio menu under Options.

How do I assign a different instrument for playback?
Hi,
I am pretty familiar with Cakewalk as far as putting in the notes, etc., but I would like the playback to sound like a violin. How do I set it up for that? I've tried everything. Any help would be appreciated.
