I'd suggest you go to a forum with living beings in it. Here's a good one: http://recording.org/forums.html Go ahead and register, and include as much info as you can. Post in the appropriate section, and someone may be able to actually help you. BTW, don't forget to respond with an acknowledgement ...

Why bother?

OK. No more of this forum. Even if you try to answer questions, nobody bothers to acknowledge with a response that it did or didn't work, much less a "Thanks". So, everyone can blame all the ungrateful people who have exhibited this behaviour for losing yet another person who was willing to try to h...

Did you try to set the sync (Timing reference) to "Audio"? (Not "MIDI" or "Internal"). Once any kind of audio is in there, it has to be timed to the audio, or it'll hiccup, skip, stutter...or just plain lock up.

First question first: A) Set the track to "Mono" before recording, and route the signal to the left or right input that you have set that track to. Pan center. B) Leave the track stereo, and route the signal (split?) to both left and right inputs. Pan center. Second question: 1) Set the output of fi...

People here should probably recommend Cakewalk products, which are very good products. A good FireWire or USB interface, and a decent pre-amp and a good condenser mic or two would be good. For more info, go to a site that has more activity, and more info on more products: http://recording.org/forums...

Find the folder on the other hard drive and copy and paste stuff over. Or, open two Windows Explorer Windows, and drag from one to the other. We have no idea where he put things. That's your job to find out. BTW, simply copying a program from one drive to the other is a waste of space. It won't work...

That's a nice unit, but tread carefully and do a lot of research before you plop down $500. That should generate a fairly stable Word Clock. You say you have a Word Clock-enabled mixer controlling Sonar? That could work. Does the Fostex have Word Clock or some other syncing ability that will follow ...

Yup, you can't get two digital audio devices to behave properly using just MIDI sync. I know for a fact that once any audio track is recorded into Cakewalk, then Cakewalk needs to be Master. I suspect you may have the same problem with the Fostex. It's because they are both using their own clocks as...

Probably because your computer needs tweaked. Also, it's a waste to record at 24/96 for what you probably want to do.

Go here:

I'm not sure what "File" could have been incorporated to make MIDI "sound better". Sonar does not make bad MIDI sounds. Sonar does not make MIDI sounds at all...it just triggers and controls sounds. It just instructs a soundcard/module to play this note on this instrument for this long at this volum...

BigT, You're welcome. When you find the answer, it may be a big help to others if you would outline the solution here, in case anyone else runs into the same type of thing. I'm pricing out a new computer myself, and if Sonar has a dual-core problem, inquiring minds want to know the fix. Thanks, HDB

Well, that makes no sense at all. You wouldn't think simply having a keyboard plugged into the MIDI In of the Lexicon could make a difference. It's not causing a loop through the keyboard. There isn't anything to cause a 'switching' condition. I don't know, but I don't think it's possible that the L...

More info is needed. What do you have the MIDI cable connected from, or, to the Lexicon? Is it going to an outboard device, like a keyboard or MIDI sound module? What are you trying to do with the MIDI cable? Do you have it connected to a device IN the computer? If so, you may be possibly causing a ...

Anton, Not sure which version of Cakewalk, but I may be able to get you close. The metronome is generally a MIDI note, like a side-stick. Is Cakewalk set up to use your soundcard as MIDI? "Options">"MIDI Devices">"Input Ports" and "Output Ports". Make sure those are set, or set them to your card...i...
