Your sound card has no built in midi drivers; Its probably playing back through MS GS Wavetable.

You have two choices :

* select GS etc in Sonar as your midi device (btw, its lousy)

* use a softsynth in Cakewalk (reade the manual on how to use one.

Sounds like the files have been corrupted.

Try playing the wav files in different software, eg. WMP. If they sound the same, then they're corrupted.

If they're ok, then you need to up the latency of your drivers.

Your sound card probably doesn't have a midi sound generator build into it.

You'll have to use a softsynth, or the terrible MS GS Wavetable.
