First, I would check and see what kid of drivers you are using (MME, WDM, ASIO) and make sure they are properly selected in your drivers option in Cakewalk. Next, I would check to see that you are set to 'trigger and flywheel' and are not synching to MIDI After that, I would check your wordclock and...

Just go to Options 'instruments' and use generic general midi for the psr. Chances are there is not an instrument file for it to give you all the patch names because its a beginner keyboard (no offence - my controller is a casio!). Then select midi channel 1 and bank 1 and start scrolling through th...

Another thing to check is your port settings. If you are recording on the same port you are monitoring your previously recorded track on, you will get bleed.

Ken,
Buy a Universal Audio UAD-1. They are amazing and for about $600.00 you get thw 1176, LA-2A, Pultec eq, etc....

They sound really, really good. It is probably the best investment I ever made.

you need a program like soundforge or acid that will import cda files. Try converting your cda file to a wav, then import it into cakewalk.

Here is a project LP junior that I boguth off ebay for 40 bucks. It had 17 3/4" holes drilled through the body. I repaired it and now it sounds great!

Make sure that the source of your midi note (click) is not being routed to the inputs that you are recording!

no, if one of the instruments is hard left and hard right you could take one side and do it.

If the violin was panned down the center and the cello was down one side you could invert phanse on one track and pan them both center.

Go with a MOTU 828 if you can swing it. They're firewire and work great. Plus if you pick up a used one it should hold it's value and be easy to sell if you decide to move on to something bigger.

Stay away from USB cards.

What's everyone using for Preamps?

I just got a Universal Audio 610 and it sounds amazing. Anything you send through it sounds good. I also have an Avalon M5, but I think Avalon spends too much on cosmetics (fancy knobs, VU meters, etc...) and they're voer marketed. The M5 sounds pretty good though (not great) What's everyone else us...
