Playback.....thats really all it's good for eh?

I use a Tascam FW1884 for my I/O stuff. The Audigy just does the playback chores. And thats really all I'd like for it to be able to do in Server 2003 as well, but I guess it's pointless to bother considering that even IF I got it to work, there's no way I'd be lucky enough to get the FW1884 to work...

Plan of attack

Well, I think the best bet at this point is to do a trial run with a backup hard drive. I'll install Server 2003 on a 40Gb drive and use the Kx Projext drivers and see what I encounter. After further research, I have good reason to believe that the Kx drivers may prove to be a solid alternative. The...

A horse is a horse of course of course....unless =)

Well, I know.....yer right, but still.....a lack of a driver for a Flagship soundcard on a flagship OS to me is kind of just ridiculous. So I take it you are familiar with the Kx Project drivers based on what you said.....one of my biggest concerns is still having the functionality of the Creative S...

Server 2003 and Sonar 3 +SB Audigy = PROBLEMS!!!

Okay, I would like to run Server 2003 with Sonar 3 as it is considerably more efficient than 2K and XP. It is noticably faster in almost every aspect. One problem however is.....I want to use my SB Audigy card, and Creative doesn't make a dedicated driver for Server 2003!!! Can you believe that? The...

Well, at this point it's moot....

Well, I suppose running at 4Ghz this whole point is moot. I don't suppose it really matters. I could run anything I want. I run 2000 simply because I don't NEED all the fluff sucking up resources that I could use elsewhere in Sonar. While it is true Win2K isn't "dedicated" to Hyperthreading. It DOES...

Uh.....

Dude, I never SAID all my plug ins support Hyperthreading...I said 2000 supports Hyperthreading. I think we've gone way beyond the original point of the thread... And I know yer not bashing my system....it really doesnt matter whether I am running 2K or XP...my system rocks regardless of the...

I would be honored....

Scott, I'll stand up on a soap box anywhere in the world and scream praises until my throat bleeds! LOL Your mastery and insight into the Sonar software is absolutely amazing. I would be honored to comment on your behalf anywhere anytime. I owe everything I know about Sonar to YOUR BOOKS! They sit r...

Jesus man!

HELLO! Win2000 Professional support ***2*** processors, therefore it SUPPORTS HYPERTHREADING!!! The detail is in HOW. If you took the time to read through several of the links, they explain how XP can distinguish between physical and logical(Hyperthreaded) processors and 2000 cannot. THAT is the big...

Okay, I hate tit for tat as it is so childish...BUT

Look, we can do this all day chief. I can post 5 links that say otherwise. Here's one to an Infoworld article that says you are wrong. http://www.infoworld.com/article/03/01/24/2002TOYhyper_1.html Here is a quote from the above link: "To make this work, you need one of Intel's 533 MHz (bus speed) pr...

Yes it supports HT

Yes it does support Hyperthreading, and I have no problems running my current setup. 2000 will be supported until 2006 so updates shouldn't be a problem. I guess it boils down to prefrence, but from my experimentation with Sonar in both OS's, I have found I simply have more memory, therefore more sy...

Uh.....

Okay, I MIGHT can understand the 16bit/32bit issue....but 2000 supports Hyperthreading just as well as XP does. The fact is, there is really no performance gain to be had by using XP over 2000 in the same system. There IS however something to be gained by using 2000 over XP, namely SYSTEM RESOURCES....

Hey Scott....

:D I know you're a very busy man, but I just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU for your Sonar Power books. Sonar 3 Power is simply AMAZING, thank you SO MUCH for creating such an excellent Book! It is without a doubt my BIBLE in the studio. I would still be scratching my head over a LOT of things were i...

I would recomend....

Windows 2000. It is basically XP WITHOUT all the bells and whistles. I have swappable Hard drives, and my music drive is 2K SP4 with only **13** processes running in the background. I can strip 2K down to a lean mean music machine, without sacrificing much of anything. My 2K drive does only one thin...

I need a cheap 8 In solution that is dependable...

:D Okay, I am asking this with the hope that someone might know of something I haven't seen yet. I need an 8 IN solution for my Sonar Rig that allows 8 track simultaneous recording, and won't break my bank account. I have my heart set on the new Tascam FW1884 simply because is gives both Tactile con...

The machine depends on the person using it....

Okay, I run my own Custom PC business, so I'd really like to help here. As a Sonar 3 user, I would have to say that creating your OWN system is the best way to go to get the best bang for your buck. I can easily help you create a Sonar monster for a LOT less than you think and ship it right to your ...
