It's difficult to say what it is. Is it a vocal you are recording, if so I use compressor settings of: Ratio 2 - 2.5 ( I never go over 2.5) Attack 25 - 35 Release 330 - 350 Threshold - minus 10 (to start with) Gate - minus 30 Make up gain needs about 1.5 - 2 dB to bring the levels back up. Obviously...

Your using the wrong effects for a thumping drum beat. It's down to compression on the wave track. Load up the sonitus compressor and try the kick drum preset in the music preset list and see if that makes any difference, then tweak the settings from there. For my sampled Kick drums I use a start po...

It certainly will and it will work a lot better, upgrade as soon as you can. Most of the sequencer software from cakewalk has midi sequencing as a basic function. It's the audio recording features that become more advanced the higher up the product chain you go. Music Creator(Cheapest) - Good Midi b...

You don't say what software you are actually using so I can only advise how its done in Sonar, which should also apply to later version of Home studio. Once you have the necessary staff view on the screen you will find a button on the staff view tool bar called "Layout", click this button and a dial...

Thinking of buying a mixer?
Mixers come in many forms, but they basically all perform exactly the same task – they take a variety of different audio signals, blend them together and balance their volumes, process them with EQ and effects, and then output the finished product in a specified way for whatever you want to do with ...

When I talk about the echo buttons it is the input echo that I mean not an echo delay fx. It is all to do with the routing of the input signal. The buttons are the ones just near the Arm, Mute and Solo buttons with a symbol that looks like o)). If you cant find them they might need to be set up. try...

When you say using a 4 Track do you mean just using it like a pre amp to boost the signal into the Laptop? If so then you need to connect the line outs of the 4 track to the line in on the Laptop (if it has one) then just plug the mic into the 4 track and use the faders/trim pots to get the best poo...

Re: all give it another go
It really does work as you say then on your machine with those settings? Really? You tried it? Cheers It really does work. That is what the screen shot is, my machine running Sonar 5 PE with one instance of Lounge Lizard 2 and one instance Of Superwave and they are both sounding at the same time as...

There are quite a few differences between HS2 and Sonar 5 but this is down to basic functionality so both versions should work the same way. Everything you are doing is correct. Make sure you turn the echo on, on both midi channels. When it is on it is green but you will have to hold down the contro...
