Re: problem of synchronisation sonar4

:( :( i import an audio file on the first track and i record my voice on the second track. But when i listen the tracks, my voice is becoming to fast compare to the audiofile and i'ts seems more and more faster during the song. Is it possible that you are recording at a different rate than the impo...

What Andy said! :) Actually, the first time I tried to post...and it got lost in the system to destroy 20 minutes of typing...I did mention SF players and a better sound card as an alternative. The second message...that did make it through... was much shorter and to the point of what was maybe alrea...

Choirgirl, If you still have the computer with the Soundblaster, perhaps you could pop the SB out of it and install it in the new one? Turn off computer, install card, and upon reboot, catch the BIOS settings so you can disable that awful AC97 in there. Don't forget to connect a cable from CD/DVD dr...

MIDI Doing Weird Things to Newbies? READ THIS, please!!!

I've noticed a lot of posts that concern MIDI doing things like, jumping in volume, playing wrong instruments, playing louder one time than another, etc. One of the things that anyone who uses a sequencing program owes to themselves is to learn the Event List Editor. (In Pro Audio it's View>Event Li...

Aron, That's what it is. They are basically samples of instruments/sounds that load into memory and trigger from a MIDI sequencer. You can mix and create your own SF sets to use the sounds you want, instead of just relying on a General MIDI sound set. You could load a general set, and just replace i...

Dunno RF, but here's some things you might play around with: Highlight a track, go to View>Event List, and see if your files have patch change messages in them. If they don't, it might be a good idea to insert the proper patches for whatever tracks. Insert them at the beginning of the track. It may ...

Hmmm...not sure. Do you have the MIDI cable going into AND out of the computer and module? If you only need to use the module for playback, remove the cable OUT from Yamaha-IN to computer. (IF it has both, and you are using them both). Maybe it's getting locked up in a loop, which could cause you to...

Gonna need to supply more info, I would imagine. What MIDI devices do you have? What are you using to connect them to the computer? What are you trying to use to record audio? How are you connecting everything. Keep in mind that if you just hook all your MIDI devices in a big straight line, (or a se...

When you say you can't hear drum tracks, do you mean recorded wav, sample-triggered by MIDI, or just plain old MIDI? You said when you change settings, you can hear it through the speakers. Is there any other sound devices in your system, and if so, what are they, and are they connected to a mixer o...

This is untrue. The data is on the same physical drive whether on the same partition or not. It is actually better for the data to have it's own partition, b/c when you defrag that partition, the data is grouped together, decreasing seek time. The drive cannot be "worked twice as hard." It spins up...

Hmmmm. First of all go to "Options", "MIDI Devices" and make sure th SB card is chosen, and probably at the top in the MIDI output. Then, make sure your ports for the tracks in the sequence you have loaded are set to the Soundfont Device. Go to "Options", "Soundfonts". Highliight the first blank ban...

I'd have to agree with Andy about getting a USB external MIDI/Audio device, if you want any kind of decent sound. Meanwhile, you may go to Control Panel in Windows and try to to install new hardware. If it doesn't find it automatically, you could try "No, the Device isn't in the list",>Next>"No, I w...

Matthew, I'm not sure exactly what you are doing, or what you mean by "going out of sync". What I gather, and correct me if I'm wrong, is that you have an analog 16-track, submixed to eight tracks, and those eight tracks are being recorded all at once into the computer. Are you trying to use SMPTE s...

What I think it may be seeing in there is a voice modem, which would explain why it sees an audio device but not MIDI. Do you have a soundcard, and what kind is it? Is it a add-on card in a slot, or is it integral to the motherboard. Look at your modem....does it have 1/8" jacks? Is the modem an add...

I was wondering  I didn't see any other posts about it, and I was really just trying to approach the subject in a non-confrontational manner that would be easy to digest. I certainly wasn't trying to "scold" anyone....it's not my place. Just pass on a few hints.... wink...wink...nudge...nudge.....
