I have no idea what Write and Read Caching is. anyone else know? I keep my buffers at 64 or 128 and i happen to like it a lot and i dont have dropout problems, but i also have a MOTU 828 as my clock and im using the multiprocessing engine because i have 2 processors in my comp. if you disable the di...

Multi processing

Has anyone else been able to make use of the multiprocessing engine in Cakewalk 3.1? First of all, it's the greatest thing ever and keeps my CPU usage way down and i seldom have a dropout issue. it has caused a few bugs though: if i have a track solo'ed and it is playing, then i hit the solo button ...

MY computer is a totally bad ass dual P3 1.2GHz. its great, but i figured this one out and im going to do a topic about it. it was my multiprocessor engine: if i turn that off, then it will mix down. otherwise, it crashes. certain plugins in the buses when turned off will allow it to mix down, but i...

mixing down audio

when i go to export to a .wav file (like ive been doing for years with sonar...) sonar crashes and doesnt export to wav. HOW ANNOYING. so? what to do? this is a new problem. it worked just fine for a long time and even with sonar 3.0 and 3.1. all of a sudden it doesnt work. anyone have this problem?

i think the problem we have is that when we mix down the audio, it doesnt mix down the sustain pedal on our piano tracks. SO weird...anyone know why it does this?

Sound Forge is pretty much just a wave file editor. its not really a multitrack recording program like sonar. it DOES have some cool fx in it though that will go over to cakewalk and be usable in there.

I have that weird dropout problem occasionally. sometimes, if i just change my latency setting, it takes care of it. other times, i have to delete the track that is causing it to drop out constantly (usually the one im recording to) and insert a brand new track. if youre worried about losing your au...

does this happen if you listen to it in real time without destructively applying the effect? maybe you have the gain on your plugin up too loudand its causing it to peak or clip. analog distortion: warm and fuzzy; digital distortion: BAD BAD BAD

oh...and in the new Sonar 3 Sonitus fx, the "drum destroyer" preset in the compressor tends to work nicely on overheads to smoothe them out if need be.

here's one having trouble getting that snare to crack through your sludge-y Foo type guitars? if you have waves plugins, load in an RComp on the snare track, but gate it first. so, gate THEN RComp. go to the preset "decompression bends". Lower the threshold and turn up the gain and hold your ears. i...

I have had a similar problem with Timeworks Phazer. IT just wouldn't play unless I turned it off or deleted it from a track. weird. the Cakewalk Compressor FX or whatever it is has given me some DEATHLY problems. screen freeze...but audio doesnt stop...but somehow twists itself into this vortex of w...

what the heck is write and read caching anyway? :?:  if you adjust your latency to be really nice and fast, you may experience dropouts. my suggestion would be to check levels with your latency to almost real time and watch the meter then change your latency back to where it doesnt drop out on...

this is totally legit with the reason people by the way. its also legit with cakewalk to buy Sonar 3 once and run it on a couple diff comps in the same studio. thats what im doing with Reason! thats why we split it. thats why i dont think its a crack issue or wares thing...since its neither.
