can cakewalk segregate the sound of a particular intrument?

say i want the violin part only of a cello+violin duet

no, if one of the instruments is hard left and hard right you could take one side and do it.

If the violin was panned down the center and the cello was down one side you could invert phanse on one track and pan them both center.
