Hi there

A real beginner here. I am a guitarist interseted in starting recording. Before I get the Cakewalk software, what else do I ned to get started?

Some preamp between your guitar and the soundcard (a soundprocessor or lineout from your amp could work).
Add an audiotrack, check R button, and make the noise!

So could I use the line out of say my Zoom 8080 processor into the line in on the sound card??
Sorry if this is fundamental, but I REALLY am a beginner!!

Right! You can do it (I record my guitar and voice in this way). Other tips:
- when you plug the guitar or mic, you might hear it through the computer
- in the soundcard mixer you must select the correct input (line in or mic)
- when you push the R button in the track the vumeter might shows the input level
