vocal mangling

Hi. I need to alter my voice for some animation projects, such that I can sound female, or like a robot, or menacing. I know there is "voice changing" software out there, but I also need reliable sequencing and recording. Will, say, Sonar 4 or LE fit the bill? Or, alternatively, is there a free plug-in that would work within Sonar 4 or LE? Thanks.
