to begin with i don't know much about home recording. i have cakewalk pro audio 9 and a cheap plastic mic. i i bought a better condenser mic and also got a tascam us- 122 interface. will the tascam work with the cakewalk and is it a pretty easy operation. i have figured out how to record audio tracks and acoustic guitar through the mic and am happy with the results but want to upgrade. any input would be appreciated. i am not that concerned with midi right now. mainly i want to know will the tascam work with cakewalk.

It certainly will and it will work a lot better, upgrade as soon as you can.

Most of the sequencer software from cakewalk has midi sequencing as a basic function. It's the audio recording features that become more advanced the higher up the product chain you go.

Music Creator(Cheapest) - Good Midi but basic audio features.

Home Studio or Sonar LE (mid range price) Good Midi and Good Audio.

Sonar Studio and Producer (top of the range) Excellant Midi and Excellant Audio (even better than excellant in Producer version).

Get the best you can afford to invest in.
