Hello everyone, complete "Newbie" here.

I have Sonar Producer 6 with (2) MOTU interfaces. I would like to hook up my Akai MPC2000XL, through Midi, to trigger drum sounds and record patterns within Sonar.

If at all possible, I would like to sync my Akai with Sonar, perhaps through MMC.

Akai > Midi out > MOTU > Midi in

But i cannot seem to trigger drum sounds? I am pretty sure I am sending the notes, as the Akai unit is setup to send them. I have the MOTU setup within Sonar as the midi device.

I should also state that I use "BFD" as a rewire device in Sonar, this is where I cannot seem to trigger any sounds?

Maybe I should use "Session Drummer 2" to write my patterns etc. Then rewire in "BFD" to handle the actual sounds later?

How do I set the midi note number for an instrument in session drummer to match the note number triggered by one of the 16 pads on my Akai unit?

Thanks all for your help :D
