New to sonar and need help (of corse)

Postby Ghostnotes » Thu Dec 13, 2007 7:30 pm

I have had Sonar 6 for a short time now and thought I had figured out what I needed to do with what i wanted to do.
All I want to do is add a song into track one then add another track and play along.
So I import the original song into track 1 and set up track 2 to record me playing along.
My setup is an alesis io\14 and am using that as a dedicated sound card (no pci installed anymore). track 2 is recorded in mono (1 microphone). I have one of the headphone jacks going through my stereo then out the headphone jack so I can hear what I'm playing to.
In a nutshell:
Track 1, original song
Track 2, recording of me mono.

I finish recording and everything looks and plays good in cakewalk, so I save it. then I go to the project file and i see 2 files a .CWP file and a .wav file.
I open the .wav file and musicmatch opens but all i hear is me playing and none of the original, so I open the .CWP file and that just starts Cakewalk up.

Did I save it wrong or set it up wrong,Ive been trying to figure it out for about 2 hours and cant seem to

One more question, I only have one mic so the track was recorded in mono and only comes out one speaker, is there any way I can add a track and at least make it output in both speakers? 2 tracks, one with original the other with left and right?

Thanks
