Hi all. I've produce an entire CD without being able to do this - but its driving me absolutely crazy, and the net in not helping. I need step by step - should anyone be able to help.

I'm trying to achieve:

1. Playing only the backtrack to the person performing the vocal (say mixed down track 8)
2. Listening to the backtrack and the vocal while recording is happening (raw mix real time) (say mixed down track 8 and vocal recording track 9)

The above at the same instant.

I'm using the following (I know I know... not great - but the only tools of the trade I have)

1. Sonar 5
2. Mixed down 14+ midi tracks from various VSTs (used bounce to track)
3. Muted all midi tracks - playing only the bounced track
4. Macbook Pro
5. Windows XP
6. Creative Soundblaster Live 24bit USB
7. Gemini PS-626PRO with the Microphone plugged into the MiC port
8. Microphone Shure PG58
9. Headphones from Soundblaster 'Phones' output (for the vocalist)
10. Output from 'Master' RCA on Gemini to 'Line In' input on Soundblaster

I want to be able to play the backtrack to the person singing, and I want to listen to the backtrack and vocals on another headset while recording.

Any help? Step by step would help...
