Forgive me for being a numpty! Absolutely beginer at this using Sonar X1 LE..........can anyone tell me if i need an actual keyboard to record keyboard soft synth. Forgive any of my bad Sonar terminology. I can add a soft synth drum kit and use a programme to click n drag to add actual visible and audible drums, however when i try to record with keyboard even after i arm the keyboard audio it leaves no visual recording or audible recording even though i can audibly hear notes being depressed via screen keyboard. hope this makes sense? I am able to visually and audibly record audio lyrics which are present with drums on playback but no keyboard???? Making me think i need an actual external keyboard to record?

There is a rich documentation here. Go to Cakewalk.com -> Documentation and you can read more:
To open the Virtual Controller Do one of the following:
:arrow: Go to Views > Virtual Controllers > Piano Keyboard, or press ALT+SHIFT+0.
:arrow: Go to Views > Virtual Controllers > Computer Keyboard, or press ALT+0.
So, the answer is YES: you can use your computer keyboard as a controller.
Why, let the stricken deer go weep,
The hart ungalled play;
For some must watch, while some must sleep:
So runs the world away
Downtempo classical trippin. Can you sample Shakespeare?
