Input Signal distorts and decays

Postby socgeek » Wed Jan 21, 2004 2:44 am

I am a beginner using Cakewalk, and I am having trouble recording my guitar. The signal has a mild distortion and has a very weird decay to it, and I have tried recording the guitar both direct (plugged in) AND miked. My input levels are WELL below the red. In fact, I have tried it at all levels and seem to have the same problem. Any suggestions?

By the way, regarding the weird decay... it seems that when I sustain a chord or note, the volume level decreases drastically immediately after the note it hit, and then maintains a low-volume sustain until it eventually fades away. I hope that makes sense.
