Sonar 3 won't insert patch change

...followed the tutorial's intsructions to the letter but instrument does not change mid-track , just plays the original patch. ?Anyone have an idea where I'm going wrong? MUCH obliged.P.S. the time and effort you all put into answering questions is VERY much
appreciated. The learning curve here is something else. THANKS.
