I follow the book.
I choose a new track, after arm it, I press the record button and before the file begins to play, you can hear drums louder and out of rhythm.
what am i doing wrong?

That sounds like your metronone. Turn off your metronone in the Options|Project. There should be a click box for metronone on during Recording. When it is off, you will still get 4 clicks before recording starts. Then you will here nothing.
