I used to do it. Haven't mixed anything for years. I get no panning when using any of the places to pan. Studio ware, box in the track view, etc. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help.

It sounds like a routing issue, you might be panning successfully but actually listening to the unpanned output coming from a different bus.

Is it possible there's a dupe of that track running at the same time? That might give the appearance of no effect.

If you were inadvertently sending all signal to both L and R all the time in your mixing config that would result in no change when you panned.

If you have a hardware mixer, check your pan pots for L and R, one should be hard left, the other hard right. If they're in the center, no difference would be percieved.

I'd simplify to find the problem. Set up one track with no plug-ins or effects, if you have a hardware mixer, bypass it by putting headphones straight into the sound card.

I can't believe it's the software.
