Hello all,

Pardon me if this has been discussed before. I recently upgraded my system, I am now running a new machine which is outfitted with Windows 7. I've been using XP for years, and never had any problems with plug ins, ect.

I installed Sonar 8 on my new machine, and it seemd to be ok. I have tons of plug ins including EZDrummer which I cannot get to work. Any advice? Running into this problem with many of my plugs.

XP has served me well and this W7 is driving me up a wall.

I just want to get back to where I was with XP with 7...or do I have to go the 8.5 route?

Pulling my hair out ....
Thanks in advance,
-Rich

Did you ever figure this problem out?

Is the Windows7 version the 32-bit or the 64-bit version? Are your missing plugins 32-bit or 64-bit?

I am new to version 8 of Sonar, moving into the wonderful 64-bit world just over a year ago, so this may be the case of the blind leading the blind, but I found out that 32-bit plug-ins don't work in 64-bit applications and vice-versa. However, there is a wonderful application called jBridge which creates a special "wrapper" for the plug-in and allows it to be used in an application which is in the other bit world. So you can run jBridger (part of the installation process) and point it to one of the plug-ins and tell it to convert from 32 to 64 bit or from 64 bit to 32 bit and also tell it which folder to put the resulting file in, and then you point your application (Sonar, in this instance) to that folder, and the plug-in should work.

There is a demo version (time-limited) of jBridge which you can download to test it out and see if it works. It works for using 64-bit plug-ins with 32-bit Sibelius for me.

Do a web search and you should find jBridge with no problem -- download the demo to see if it works and then you'll know whether you should buy it or not.
