sorry if I didn't understand how to make a new instrument but, can i put instead a midi note a wave file?... for example: in the channel #10, i'd like to use it for a real drum (wav)... so, when i 'tell' cakewalk to play the snare, instead of playin a midi note it would play a wave file (snare.wav)
i don't know if anybody understood me... it's too hard to explain... :? i'd like to play a .wav note instead a .mid note
 i will be very very very glad if i got an answer

The point is, MIDI and audio are very different. So if you want to add audio, add to an audio track. You might also want to consider other software like Audiomatik, or Fruity Loops.

I think what you need is a sampler. This way you can load your wav files into the samper and then when you want to play a real (sampled) drum sound, hitting the corresponding key will do it.

The only way to just put them into an audio track would be to use wav drum loops which you could just string together at set to play.
