I am not aware of many paralel portaudio interfaces. Are you sure you are not thinking of midi interfaces?
Some good cheap midi interfaces are m-audio's midiman series, motu fastlane, etc...
Audio interfaces come in many sizes and configurations. About how much are you looking to spend?

The Tascam Us-224 and US-428 are decent now that the driver issues have been solved. They can be had for about that price.
Stay away from anything made by Creative (SoundBlaster).
Be awart that USB has limitations on transfer rates. USB 2.0 audio devices are now availible, but are more than you want to spend.
Make sure you're not running your midi interface and usb audio interface into a hub then into your system, as this can cause many issues with lag and delay.
Personaly, I would stsy away from USB audio interfaces unless you are sending 1 or 2 ins at a time. Maybe the bugs of this have been worked out since I last looked into it, do some research before jumping in.
Good Luck and let us know how you make out.

Creative stuff is great for games and home pc's, but I have yet to see a really good pro audio card/device come from them.
If you have one and it works that's great. Basicly, they are marketed as a pro card by stores like Best Buy or Circut City, but you can usually get a pro card used for the same money (or less). The drivers can be flakey as well.
Don't get discouraged if you have one. If it works for you and does what you need it to do - great!
