WHERE can I find FREE Music Notation Software

I can't afford things like Finale and I need to get my music put on the computer so I can read it easier. I try the downloads that Finale offers but after about three days I has a problem and I doesnt work. HELP I want to know where I can get free software to get started

Power Tab is great. Text editor for tabs that inserts equivalent music notation for you. It also plays back what you input. I enjoy it.
