velocity input

hi guys! here's a big one that's been bugging me for a long time. this is what i want to do with cakewalk that i can't figure out. i want to input a drum note with instant volume. this is what i want: click the mouse on the percussion line while holding ex. ctrl-q and that drum note will have a volume of 90. of course i need to assign the volumes with the keys. like 60 for a, 70 for s, 80 for d, and so on. is this possible or do i need to be a computer programmer to do it. i've talked with some prog. friends and they just shrugged me off. any help 'round here. thanks.

I normally just draw in velocity changes in the bottom half of the piano roll window in the controller pane.

If I want to increase velocity over a long period of time then I use envelopes.

I think what you want to do is contained within the edit > interpolate menu, an area I have not ventured into :shock:
