I have a Yamaha PSR 225GM, which I want to use to play midi from Cakewalk. I've connected it up using an M-Audio Quattro, and I can get Cakewalk to record from it, but I can't make the Yamaha play anything back.
I have the input and output midi jacks connected correctly. The midi data seems to be being sent out through the Quattro properly. The Yamaha just doesn't respond. I have checked all the midi settings on the Yamaha.
Thanks anyone who can offer a suggestion or similar experience

Yamaha PSR 255GM for output
Just checking, but is your Yamaha set up to receive MIDI information in OMNI Channel mode?
The cakewalk documentation seemed to suggest that I should have it set to receive on channel 1, which is how I tried it. There seems to be no mention of omni mode in the documentation for the Yamaha. Can you tell me any more about omni mode and what that means?
Thanks for your kind help

Okay, I looked more carefully at the documentation and found how to set the Yamaha into midi omni mode. However, it still won't produce any sounds when connected to the sequencer.

I can't say for sure that every device that uses MIDI can work on OMNI channel. OMNI means that all 16 channels are used.
There may be another issue lurking here. MIDI mapping. MIDI uses 16 channels, but there is no real standard on the numbering. Some use 0-15 and some use 1-16. So your channel 1 in Cakewalk could be channel 0 in the Yamaha, or visa-versa.
I am not familiar with your Keyboard so I cannot talk with any sort of expertise.
