I have a strange problem. Whenever I try to assign more than one channel to drum instruments, only channel 10 plays and the others just play back the sound of ocnventional instruments, which sounds very awkward. Any way to get out of this jam?

No channel ten is the default percussion channel. You don't need to feed drums through other channels. Create all your different drum sounds on different tracks but make sure they are all chenneled through channel 10.
