video for sonar

I'm trying to convert VHS video clips from Roxio Toast to a useable format/codecs that Sonar can handle. Roxio doesn't have an >avi option but it does have various mpeg formats. So far, I've been able to make it work just fine but as soon as the clip ends, an arror message pops up and Sonar has to be closed.
Any thoughts?
