Hello,

Has anyone come a cross this issue in Cakewalk Sonar Producer edition:

recording into the soundcard using the standard 1/4 mic jack...
while recording, the wave looks and sounds fine...
but when i stop and play it back, the wave file visually shrinks and it sounds higher pitched,sped-up, and choppy.
sort of like a 'chipmunk' effect.

i remember coming across a fix like this waay back in the day...
but i have no clue where the link is. it may be a windows setting...

thanks in advance for your help

This could be something to do with sample rate settings. Check that the bit depth and sample rate you have set in Sonar match those that your soundcard is using.

I'm having the very same problem when attempting to record in Sonar 6.
(I know that's no help to you)

Someone drop us a hint, or clue...

I tried this and it fixed my "choppy" problem, it's from Sonar's own FAQ's (believe it or knot):

If you’re using the soundcard that came with your computer you should go to Options | Audio | Advanced and set you driver mode to “MME 32bit” (or check the box “Always use MME interface, even when WDM drivers are available.”) Now re-launch the program and try again.

I thought I might avoid these kinds of problems buying the matched hardware and software package...I get choppy playback even of the sample content on the cd. So many people are having this problem and there are no answers. I tried to change the driver mode and it won't let me. Please someone help...

Thanks A Rod, you're a life saver and time saver,
I've gone through so many programs and finally got
this one to find out it's choppy as chinese steak house.
I made an account on here just to thank you personally. :)
