How to use Steinberg The Grand for playing MIDI on Sonar HS6

Hi,
I want to learn how to set up Sonar HS6 to play MIDI Grand Piano track using Steinberg The Grand which I already installed as a VSTi Plug-In with my Sonar HS6? I have done everything I thought I should but the sound coming out of the speakers (M-Audio BX5a) is no different from before installing The Grand.
Do I have to record on a new track using The Grand in order to hear the sound I want to hear?
If there be a thread or web site(s) on this, please advise.
