I use guitar port. Up until I started using sonar 2, I could use guitar port just fine with cakewalkhs 2000xl. But, when I loaded it using sonar, there is a hit and miss thing going on. I really doesnt seem like a latency problem because everything plays fine, but the sound from guitar port keeps popping in and out. Does anyone have any suggestions?

First of all GuitarPort in one respect is a great product.
But after upgrading to 2.0 I've had a lot of issues. I finally found a FAQ that addresses getting no sound into Sonar that has to do with how the driver is initialized. This seems to work for me:
You have to do this IN ORDER:
Start sonar
ARM the track you want to record on
then start the Guitar port App
This is still hit and miss

This is assuming all the Audio preferences are set correctly...
Let me know if it works for ya
I'm just getting started too and I'm thinking that the funky way the Guitarport is used by the PC that using an external amp sim would save
a lot of headaches cause you don't have to worry about all the PC resources that Sonar and Guitarport are trying to use at the same time.

Not sure if it's the same problem but recording guitar with a sequenced drum part that I imported as a wav file I had more of a stutter than clicks or pops.
Coming back the next day and rebooting and setting up my audio preferences again everything came good.
Go figure.
