input-output problems

Hello,
I am a returning user of CW, I just bought MC2. I am running Windows ME on a Compaq Presario 5003, ADM with the builtin VIA AC 97 sound. I have no MIDI input. I updated the drivers to the Vinyl drivers.
I am having trouble getting anything in or out of the Audio. Can't record or hear it. I can select MIDI stuff and hear it but cannot get regular audio. Before I updated the drivers I was able to get some audio. I could hear but not record. I tried using the Windows recorder and I can record and play okay.
