Cakewalk randomly stops working...please help!

Hello everyone
I was half way through recording this new song I wrote, using Cakewalk Music Creator Pro 2004, when I decided to take a break. I came back to my computer and went to load Cakewalk up only to be confronted by this error message:
A Control Surface dll has not been installed.
I'm really annoyed and want Cakewalk to work again so I can finish my song. Unfortunately, I lent my Cakewalk disc to a friend ages ago and never got it back so the thought of re-installing isn't going to happen.
I really need some help
