I've installed Cakewalk 8.0 for the first time on Windows 2000. I don't want to upgrade because all I use Cakewalk for is the MIDI and Syncing. After I exit out of Cakewalk the cwpa.exe process continues and if I try to "end task" It just refuses to close and I'm left with no choice but to reboot again, and even that becomes tough. WIndows 2000 struggles like heck to close the process itself, and sometimes even hangs on shutdown. Any one solve this problem in the past?

Cakewalk 8.0 was probably designed for Win 95. Does Win 2000 have a compatibilty mode like XP, if it does then try that. It's probably something to do with it being a 16 bit application running on a 32 bit OS and file system.

You say you don't want to upgrade but even Cakewalk Music Creator which is only $29 as a download from Cakewalk will give you a lot more functionality than Cakewalk 8.0.
