Soundfont/audio problems

I am using Sonar 7 Producer Edition with a Soundblaster X-fi soundcard. When I program my drums with soundfonts and then record audio with MME drivers the audio plays back off the beat. I switched to ASIO driver mode and the audio plays back properly but when I arm the track I can't get sound even though I'm getting a signal in the meter when I play an instrument.
Anyone have any suggestions for me? Thanks!
