Hi
I forgot to mention that I have a Pentium 300 600MHZ system and operate DVD Player as well, my soundcard is a sound/modem Riptide/Rockwell standard issue by Hewlett Packard for the Pavillion 8526 model with a multi media monitor.

I used to be on Win 98 second edition but as I said upgraded to Win 2000 I have loaded the latest driver for the soundcard.

Get a proper soundcard, a soundblaster at least. That one sounds like one of those soft soundcards which utilises the wave device in the modem to playback wave sounds. A very cheap short cut by HP. If you have just upgraded from Win 98 try the recommendations in your other post.
