I've got my computer built and am just waiting to save up enough $$ for my MAudio 2496 audio card. Here is my question:

I was reading that Cakewalk supports DXI Soft Synths-what is that? I've got a pretty decent Yamaha keyboard, would this work?

As long as your Yamaha synth has midi you could use it without any problems.

Think of your soft synth (in this case dxi) as a hardware sound module. You are simply using your Yamaha's keyboard to trigger the soft synth.

Good Luck!

DXi softsynths are virtual instruments that replicate hardware instruments in software. The soundcard you are buying will be great for playing softsynths.
