First, you have to set your windows mixer up.

1- click on the speaker in the lower right hand side of your taskbar
2- properties/recording
3- adjust your mic or line level to a healthy level

Start Cakewalk
- Run wave profiler
- select port (your soundcard)
- hit record

An important thing to remember is to record and minitor on different ports. This will prevent your prerecorded tracks being recorded on top of your new track.
