I have a delay when trying to record into my mic. It is plugged directly into my soundcard. I'm not using instruments, I am creating music using the loops from music creator. The recording will playback without a delay when listening. But when recording my voice is like milliseconds of delay when i speak into it. So it is frustrating trying to sing over a track when my voice sounds as if i am saying words twice as i go.
Also when I try to import the drumstyles that came with Cakewalk it says it cannot play .wav file. I am using
Music Creator2003
windows XP
Soundfusion Midi interface
I dont know what else you need to know.

You have to adjust the latency (audio performance) settings for both your soundcard and in Cakewalk. Faster performance can make your pc less stabe, but it really is system dependent. For instance, I keep my machine on FASTEST and I never have a problem, but I have a fairly robust machine.

Good Luck!
