Anyone here who really knows both programs?

I'm just starting to use Cubase, but I've been using Pro Audio 9 for quite a long time.
Most people recommend Cubase over Cakewalk, but I really don't see such a big difference (just that cubase might be a bit more difficult to use)

I used Cubase a long time ago, but gave it up for PA. At the time, the best program was Opcode's StudioVision, but that only ran on mac.

I don't think any one of the following:
Sonar
PT
DP
Nuendo
Cubase
etc...

Are any better than the others, they all have their stengths and weaknesses. Find what you are comftorble working with and stick with it.

I am incredibly happy with S3 (Studio and Producer) and S4 has me very excited, as I am currently using Vegas for Surround mixing.

I have a friend who uses DP and it works great for him. I bought a mac a few months ago and litterally kept it for about 9 days and hated DP becasue it wasn't Sonar/PA.
