Hi

I just got Cakewalk Guitar Studio, and I am having a problem with mic input levels. It seems that no matter how I adjust the slider in the console view, the input level doesn't change. It doesn't raise or lower the incoming signal. The signal is definitely there, and it records (quiet), but I have no control. Might it be my sound card (soundmax)? I have also noticed that if I open up my volume control on my computer and mute EVERYTHING (including the microphone level), the signal still seems to make it to the recording level meter on the console.

I hope this makes sense. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

You may need to increase the input gain via the Volume Control setting in windows.

Depending on your system, you will go to Start|Programs|Accessories|Entertainment|Volume Control. Click on Options, then Properties. Now select Recording and press OK. You will see the sliders for various different recording devices. Find Microphone and increase it.

Be careful because too much gain will cause excessive distortion.

Actually, it's not a matter of not getting any signal... I AM getting some. It is a matter of the console-view slider not having any effect on the signal that IS coming through. In fact, I can't seem to adjust the incoming signal in any way, even through the Windows volume control.
