Sorry but some of us do our best. It isn't put here by Cakewalk as far as I know. I'll look at your posts and see if I can help in any way.

Thanks andy.. I have a problem loading Spectrafx in Producer3, it does not want to play. I was just wondering if anyone else is having an issue with this particular plugin.. Thanks again

I had the same problem with Spectra FX crashing my Sonar 3 Producer edition while trying to use it on a track. I got this from Tech Support at Cakewalk. I haven't tried it yet, do it at your own risk. I suggest contacting Tech Support yourself to see if you get the same response:

a) Completely un-install SONAR from your computer. This is normally
done from Start | Programs | Cakewalk. This will not remove any of
your files or audio data.

b) To make sure nothing else is running while reinstalling SONAR in
step 'e', choose Start | Run and type MSCONFIG. Click OK, choose
Selective Startup, then uncheck the Load Startup Group Items box.
Click OK, and restart Windows. You can always recheck that box at a
later time. In Win 2000, click Ctrl+Alt+Del and manually End Task on
the items you don't need running. Restart your computer.

c) Click the Windows Start button and select Run. At the prompt type
REGEDIT and click OK.
Backup your Registry before making edits - you do this by clicking the
Registry menu, Export Registry File.
Now delete the following Registry keys
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software

Please note that this will remove any effects presets and key bindings
you may have made in Cakewalk. You can back up those registry keys
separately if you like.

d) Delete the files AUD.INI and TTSSEQ.INI from the SONAR program
folder.

e) Restart your computer, then reinstall SONAR.

That is a standard fix for many problems in all versions of sonar with crashes.

There is another fix, slightly easier, so I thought I would try it before the one above. It seems to have worked for me.

Start > Run > type regedit > click OK

Follow the following path: HKEY_CURRENT_USERS/Software/Cakewalk Music Software/SONAR/(version number)

Delete all the folders labled Toolbars. They have numbers after them.

Do not delete anything else.

Close Regedit.

Restart Computer.

Relaunch Sonar and try again.

This fixed has worked for me and it fixes problems created by other programs you may run that mess with Windows system files that control display settings.

I have also found that when using Sonar there is no need for high priority graphics so I knock my Graphics acceleration down 2 clicks. I usually leave it like this unless I have to do some picture editing.

Hope that helps. If it doesn't then try the above fix but your right it does look a bit scary.

None of the above worked. Cakewalk sent me a new install cd. Still no. I have had spectrafx work once but only with awdm driver from Aardvark cranked all the way up to 147 mls. Anything lower and I get a reboot or frozen system.
winxp,xp2600+,gig pc3200,asus a7n8x deluxe, etc etc etc.
Oh well. Sonitus efects and all else are really fantastic. Vsampler is wicked, and great.. Take care.
